Hi all! I'm a reunited adoptee and an adoptive mom who reunited with our daughter's birthdad 6 years ago. I've been a life/biz coach/speaker/author for 25 years but I'm in transition to focusing on supporting the adoption community to build healthy, long-term relationships in adoption reunion. It's complex stuff - when I met my birthfamily in 1999, I found my birthmom, birthdad and eleven siblings! So many relationships, so many emotions... it was life changing for all of us! I'm writing a book with the working title Living in Reunion: The Essential Guide to Designing Healthy Relationships in the Adoption Constellation. I've interviewed over 50 people so far and I'm looking for an agent and/or publisher - any suggestions or leads welcome! My vision is to be offering retreats, classes/group coaching and training for professionals. I live in Asheville, NC with my daughter and two kitties! Here's a bit more about my adoption related work (in progress!) www.elizabethbarbour.com/adoption

Wonderful to connect to you here. It’s so incredible, the life of being an adoptee and being able to connect to your birth family again. It helps you find yourself so much in that process, I’m sure. I was not adopted, but there was a disconnection from my mom’s side of the family, and I always always always desired to find them until I did. It brought so much to my life. And I think it will even more in the near future.
@Sabrina Fajardo I'm so happy to hear that you were able to reconnect with your family and that it's been positive so far! Many of us have stories of disconnection and reunion. It's really wonderful when it goes well (and of course it doesn't always... it's complex stuff!) - thanks for your note!
Elizabeth so happy to have you here in this community! Thanks for sharing the depth of what you do :)
@Megha Bradley thank you! I'm curious to follow how you are doing with being off of social media - it's quite the experiment. I like how you are curating this smaller community!
@Elizabeth Barbour Going to do a post on it now. I have to add this community access to my phone so I can update from there LOL
What a special service this is!
@Cindy Constable thank you - it's very niche, for sure, but so many of us are out here trying to manage these intricate relationships on our own... it helps to have support! I'm grateful to do this work!
